Kalian paced for a time before Tiathal stopped him.
“What is troubling you Kalian?”
“You know me well my old friend,” Kalian replied and handed Tiathal a letter.
“Yes, well when you insist on blocking me out of your thoughts, you have left me little choice but learn your body language.” Tiathal said as he took the letter.

Amicus meus, mi carissime amicus meus… All that once was is lost, as am I. You saw to that when you destroyed our world and finished the deal with the death of filius meus et amica mea. What is done can never be undone. A new world will rise and with it a destruction that you have only yourself to blame; a destruction that will fittingly come to pass at the hands of your descendants – it is but the only way despite how it pains me. I alone will right your wrongs and you and yours will have to suffer the consequences, as have I for a millennium. Vale, mi amice, hic finis.
“He believes the boy to be dead,” Tiathal said.
Kalian nodded, “despite my having told him otherwise. I am fearful of what may come.”
“Of course you are, as am I. But we have discussed this and we agreed that this was the right path to take. The past cannot be undone but the future can be restored.”
“But why does it need to be? Are things really that bad? The damage was done, things are as they are, why can the future not be as it is?”
“Kalian, we have been over this. The earth is dying, the humans as a race are corrupt and millennia from now there will be nothing left, even for our people. Restoring the balance of what was is the only way. The girls of your bloodline are the last twins to make that possible for many reasons. Why do you doubt it now?”
“My wife was my strength behind this Tiathal, you know that. With her gone, how will I be able to prevent the path that Korali desires? If he succeeds over me… There is just so much at stake and I am old and tired.”
“You must have faith old friend. Amanae is pure of heart and there is as much of your wife in her blood as there is of you. There is still much hope.”
“But you said for yourself that she is dangerous!”
