With the revision of Book 1 completed and Book 2 now making steady progress, I’ve decided to provide little snippet teasers to keep you going until the releases are public. You can sign up for my newsletter at the bottom of this page.
I flop down on my bed and stare at the ceiling. Some “vacation” this is turning into. My mind starts flitting between thoughts of Jordan, my friends, my dreams, the events of the last couple of days – but never really settles on anything coherent. I feel so unsettled and I hate it. What the hell is going on in this place?! I close my eyes and take a deep breath, immediately a feeling of calmness washes over me, though it doesn’t last as I drift into a nap.
I admire a panoptic view of some foreign land; a sea of color sprawling among vibrant greenery, it’s gorgeous. I hear a sound of rushing air and try to locate its source. I squint, my mind not registering what I’m seeing. As the mass draws closer I realize that it’s a dragon, the most elegant dragon surely there ever was. It swooped and twirled and dive-bombed through the air. It levels out and somehow seems to take on a more serious air about it. It looks as though it’s searching for something. Is that a person on its back? It starts to weave back and forth scanning the foliage below in a grid-style type pattern. Suddenly I see a shimmer in the air, almost like an invisible wall. The dragon is getting closer to it and my stomach knots up as though something is terribly wrong. I try to yell out a warning, though I don’t understand why. When the dragon swoops back again its wing grazes the shimmering wall and I hear a piercing cry. The dragon and rider tumble through the air down into the foliage.
I awake with a start. Staring at the ceiling, I try to catch my breath and calm my adrenaline. Well that was a bizarre dream! But hey, at least Beauty-boy wasn’t around this time.
